Faculty of Commerce

The Faculty of Economics provides students with a sound understanding of the core of economics, in pure and applied contexts. The extensive nature of economics means that graduates in this field will draw upon many other disciplines throughout the course of their studies, including history, sociology, mathematics, and philosophy.

This comprehensive education provides a strong foundation for students, giving them the opportunity to be successful in many sectors, both public and private. By integrating a wide range of theoretical insights with empirical observation, the study of economics enables students to apply their knowledge and understanding to the practical issues which arise in this sphere, which include investment, taxation, banking, and financial management.

Notably, many of these disciplines have their origin in business and economic history that is predominately Western. For students of the Faculty of Economics this may mean adapting the traditional economic theories and practices they learn to best meet Cambodia’s unique needs in areas such as sustainable development, international trade and employment.

In order to deliver this well-rounded education, one that allows graduates to achieve in both the public and private sector, the Faculty of Economics structures its degrees upon a pattern of common core units, specialized majors, electives and an in-depth final paper.
